Preparations for next projects

It's been a while since I posted here!

I was busy weaving the remainder of the Ocean-Born Mary scarf warp until last week when I finally wove off the last scarf.  I have to say that I was in a hurry to finish it up, so wove as quickly as possible.   It's amazing how much more consistent my beat is when I weave quickly.

The last two yards of the warp failed in tension (due to my own fault - I forgot to use the tension box from Tien while I was warping, with expectable results).

I've started on two new projects.  The first will be a double-weave sampler using the super-bright synth-dyed perle cotton I bought from Village.  The second is the result of a very cool discovery - someone had gifted me with a bunch of silk yarns they didn't need - what I originally thought was 60/2 spun silk turns out to be real organzine.  The skeins are huge - eight of them, at approximately 8,000 yards per skein - all ready to tangle!  I decided to add the annoying but worth-it step of winding smaller hanks of the organzine for dyeing.  I think most of it will be dyed with indigo, and there will be silver thread used as weft.

It felt nice to remove the thrums from the last project, and then cleaning around the loom area.  Looks so nice and inviting now...
